Teri Lee White

Dateline: George West, Texas Teri Lee White (Cook) passed away in her 61st year at her home in George West, Texas, in the loving arms of her husband, Bill White, after a courageous 19-month battle with cancer. Teri and Bill were married for 18 years and were inseparable to the end. It was her wish to be at home in George West and at the Church of the Good Shepherd for her passing. She was the proud mother of Christopher Dougherty of George West, Mary Elizabeth Dougherty of Corpus Christi, and Stephanie Rhodes of Austin. Beloved “Momo” to Miley and Michael Casas of Corpus Christi. Stepmother to Brad White (Katie) of Kitchener and Dan White (Emily) of Hamilton, Canada. Daughter of Kaye Hunsaker of Corpus Christi and predeceased by her father Zale Edward Cook. Loving sister to Sheri Jackson (Chris), and sister to Maury, Brett Hunsaker, and Grant Cook. Stepdaughter to Maurice Hunsaker. Also predeceased and loved by Bill’s parents, Doreen and Allen White. Sister-in-law to Kathy Haehnel (Walt) and Lisa White (Kenny) all of Canada. Teri was surrounded by love and support from her cousins Jimmy, Jana, and Susan, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Teri and Bill lived a big, beautiful life between Texas and Canada. A lifelong lover of horses, Teri cherished her youth on the family ranch in George West, next to Bud and Virginia Horton. She could name every cow or horse and always knew what they were thinking. She and Bill adored their horses Buddy, Charlie, and Hawkeye in Canada, where she also skied, ice skated and trained horses for fox hunts. After retirement, they ranched for three years at the family ranch in Mineral, Texas. Teri saw sunsets across the Hill Country and Brush Country, Niagara Falls, Las Vegas, and Canada’s East Coast. She hiked the Niagara Escarpment and swam in the Great Lakes. She had an exceptional sense of design; her decorating touch made every home and ranch beautiful. She loved hosting family gatherings and home-cooked holiday meals. Driven by a lifelong desire to help others, Teri worked in core banking and mortgages and later founded Coastal Bend Mortgage. For five years, she served as a Constituency Assistant in the Canadian House of Commons for MP John Nater (Perth–Wellington) one of few Texans to hold that nonpartisan role. She was deeply appreciated by the Perth–Wellington team. Special thanks to Tim Sparks for his caring support. Teri proudly gave tours of the House of Commons in Ottawa and met party leaders, a Canadian senator, premiers of Ontario, and many mayors, serving her community with pride. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Melissa, Norma, Stacey, and Chaplain Moises of Compassus Hospice, Corpus Christi, and Kelsey of Hope Hospice, New Braunfels, for their exceptional care and compassion.
