Raul "Pumpa" G. Ortiz

Dateline: Alice, Texas Raul "Pumpa" Ortiz, also known as "Tio Bull" by most of his family, was loved by all. This very special man was called home by the Lord Monday, December 2, 2024. Raul "Pumpa" was born February 07, 1939 to Abel and Ysmenia Garcia Ortiz in Sandia, Texas. He worked all his life as an industrial electrician to provide for his wife of 64 years and his children. He was employed by Ball Montez, Flournoy, and retired from Greywolf Drilling. Soon after he opened a business (SCR) with his good friend and business partner Steve Stevenson. Any chance he had he would spend time at the Circle R Ranch tending to his horses and cattle and just walking his properties. Some of his favorite past times were watching any western on T.V. and eating sweets. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife, his 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his sense of humor. He enjoyed lighthearted needling, poking fun, or giving people a hard time, but it was always in good fun and meant no harm. He served the Lord in the Church of Christ as a talented song leader for 70 years. Raul "Pumpa" is preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Abel Ortiz Jr., 2 sisters Elida Padilla and Alice Valdez, and his daughter-in-law Sandra Ortiz. Survivors: Wife of 64 years Amalia Ortiz 2 Sons Raul (Karen) Ortiz Jr. and Jacob (Consuelo) Ortiz 1 Daughter Debbie (David) Carbajal 5 Grandchildren Krystal (David) Broussard, David Carbajal Jr., Michelle (Parker) Ortiz, Jaclynn Ortiz, and Derek Ortiz 3 Great-Grandchildren Emily Broussard, Michael Broussard, and Luke Broussard 4 Brothers Richard (Lydia) Ortiz, Martin (Mae) Ortiz, Abelardo (Elvira) Ortiz, and Noe (Maria) Ortiz 1 Sister Bertha Diaz Numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins A visitation will be held Saturday, December 07, 2024 from 9AM to 10AM at the Church of Christ on S. Texas Blvd. in Alice, Texas with a funeral service to begin at 10AM. Services will conclude at the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Houston, Texas. We will live with the pain of his loss so that he may be at peace.
