Margaret Sorrells

Dateline: George West, Tx. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret Sorrells, who left us on June 25th at the age of 81. Margaret was a beloved wife, mother, granny, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Born on September 20th, 1943 in Hope, Arkansas, Margaret was the daughter of Mary Coon and James Lauterbach. She grew up in Fort Stockton, Texas and attended Fort Stockton High School. On April 5th, 1963 Margaret married the love of her life, Maurice Sorrells. She was a devoted wife to Maurice and mother to Deborah and Jeffrey Sorrells. She took great pride in her family and in celebrating their milestones. She attended as many school functions as she could in support of all of her children and grandchildren. Baking on holidays and birthdays was one of her favorite ways to show she cared. Margaret was an ambitious and dedicated business woman for many years. She worked as a Beautician and owned her own salon in Taft, was the Bookkeeper for the Handi Stop in George West, purchased her very own convenience store, the Junior Mart, in Three Rivers, and finally retired as a Bookkeeper for Robstown Bulk Fuel. During those dedicated and hard working years, she contributed to her community by providing excellent customer service and built amazing relationships with great people that lasted decades. Margaret also enjoyed a few passions and pastimes. Hunting and fishing with her family was one of her greatest joys. She was a word puzzle whiz and adored both Wheel of Fortune and her weekly crosswords. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, with a specialty in painting. She made frequent trips with her best friends to dance and listen to good music whether it was across the border to Mexico or to Bandera to have a good time. In addition, she enjoyed supporting her kids, grandkids, and others in 4H and FFA, especially during livestock shows. She also took great pride in her appearance, making sure that she never left the house without looking her very best. She believed that looking good was a reflection of the confidence and grace she carried with her. Finally, she especially loved laughing and spending quality time with her family. She is survived by her daughter Deborah Sorrells (Yogi) and son Jeffrey Sorrells (Cynthia), her grandchildren; Misty Martinez (Mark), Micaela Rosas (Ricky), Tripp Valadez, Hunter Sorrells (Brette), Brooke Voorhees (Eron), River Sorrells (Amber), and her six great grandchildren; Daphne, Camila, Celeste, Hudson, Steele, and Slade. She also has numerous living cousins, nephews, and loved ones. She was predeceased by both of her parents, two brothers Jimmy and Buddy Lauterbach, sister Sharolyn Holder, and her dear husband Maurice. Margaret will be dearly missed by all. Her legacy and memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. We find comfort in knowing she is finally at peace. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 from 6 pm to 8 PM in the Roberson funeral Home Chapel in Three Rivers, Texas. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 beginning at 10AM int he Roberson Funeral Home Chapel in three Rivers, Tx. Graveside Funeral Services will follow in the Palms Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Portland, Tx beginning at 1PM..
