Manuela Salas

Dateline: Alice, Texas Our beautiful, loving mother, Manuela Ambriz Salas, entered heaven on Monday, December 16, 2024 at the age of 94 at her residence in Alice, Texas surrounded by her loving family. Manuela was born in Hidalgo, Texas on February 27, 1930 to San Juana Vela and Jesus Ambriz. Throughout her life, Manuela enjoyed various hobbies, but her passion for cooking was at the top of her list. She worked as a cook for 17 years at Canales Café and still came home to cook for her family daily. Her generosity was endless. Manuela or as her grandchildren would call her "Wela Meme" was always ready to spend time with her family. She loved having everyone over and making people laugh. Her kindness was contagious. Most of her grandchildren grew up drinking her homemade tea and listening to her talk about the good old days and her life growing up. She instilled numerous valuable lessons in every story that will remain with everyone forever, emphasizing the importance of resilience and unconditional love. Everyone who had the privilege to meet her will deeply miss her and will always remember her wise words of wisdom and prayers. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Rogelio Salas; her parents San Juana Vela & Jesus Ambriz; son Hector Salas; daughter Sofia Arenas; son in laws Rodolfo Salinas & Ernesto Arenas Sr.; sisters Carmela Ortiz & Josefina McFarlin; brothers Augustine Ambriz & Jose Ambriz; daughter in law Maxima Salas; grandsons Ernesto Arenas Jr., Joe Arenas, and Concepcion Garcia; granddaughters Lorena Sandoval & Angelika Hughes; great-granddaughter Ariela Garcia; great-grandson Cruz Reynaldo Manuela is survived by her children Oralia (Oscar) Rios of Alice Texas; Maria Reyes Salinas of Alice, Texas; Blanca (Condrado) Gonzalez of Alice, Texas; Rogelio Salas Jr of Alice, Texas; 25 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Roberson Funeral Home Chapel with a holy rosary to be recited at 1:00 pm and a liturgy of the word to follow. Burial to follow right after at the New Collins Cemetery in Alice, Texas. Serving pallbearers are Ariel Salinas, Gabriel Salinas, Saul Salas, Anthony Garcia, Sergio Sandoval & Efren Arenas Services entrusted to Roberson Funeral Home Alice.
