Manuel Casas

Dateline: Jourdanton, Texas ---- Manuel Casas went to be with our Lord on September 14, 2019 at the age of 88. He is survived by his children, Abel (Mary) Casas, Carlos (Vicky) Casas, Linda Casas, Sally Casas and Ofelia (Karl) Thompson. He will be missed by his grandchildren A.J. (Sarah) Casas, C.K. Casas, Melissa (Eric) Carver, Jonathan Casas, Jimm Casas, Marc Casas and Alex Casas-Thompson: Great grandchildren, Kaylee, Cash and Cade Casas, Aubrianna, Betalia and Isabella Gray Carver. He is also survived by his sisters, Anita Esquivel, Theresa Vinton, Juanita Guerra and Sister-in-law Josephine Segura. Along with several numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, and supportive family and friend Connie Casas and Johnny Rogers. Manuel Casas was born July 17, 1931 to Porcopio and Trinidad Casas in Christine. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 41 years, Betalia (Segura) Casas. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Porcopio and Trinidad (Robles) Casas, siblings, Ignacio, Porcopio Jr., Frank and Marcos Casas. Manuel, as a child worked the fields picking cotton, corn any other crops. He worked climbing every day to light the gas torch in La Parita for several years. He then became a heavy equipment mechanic. In 1955 he purchased a construction company and became self-employed to provide for his family. His construction company was unlimited on work he would do; drive-ways, sewer lines, septic tanks, build stock tanks, back-hoe maintainer and front loader operator, sand blaster/painter. He loved the family ranch and raised cattle. He was a kind and gentle man with a big heart to help others. He was an usher at ST. Matthew’s Catholic Church for many years, and a member of the Men’s Club. He loved his family, community and church. He was a member of ST. Matthew’s Catholic Church his entire life. He and our mom instilled the need to put God first and stay true to our religion, have great work ethics, morals, self-respect, common sense, and to respect others to pass on in their children to pass on to their families. We love and miss you both. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 17, 2019 to begin at 9 AM with Rosary to be recited at 10:30 AM and Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM at St. Matthews Catholic Church located at 1608 Campbell Ave. in Jourdanton . Father Francis McHugh will be officiating the services. Burial will be at 1 PM at Hill Top Cemetery in Tilden, Texas. Serving as Pallbearers are grandsons, A.J. Casas, Jonathan M. Casas, Jimm Casas, Marc Casas and Alex Thompson Casas, Son-in-law Karl Thompson, and great nephew-in-law Eric Carver. Services entrusted to Roberson Funeral Home, Three Rivers.
