Dateline: Alice, Texas Gabriela (Gabby) Vasquez, age 81, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, in Alice, Texas. Born on September 4, 1944, in Alice, Texas, Gabriella spent her life deeply rooted in the community where she was both born and raised. Gabriela’s journey was marked by a steadfast commitment to education and service. She received her GED and began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and later transitioned to a position as an Assistant Purchasing Agent at Alice P&S Hospital. Her dedication to the medical profession spanned an impressive 35 years, during which she touched countless lives with her compassion and skill. In 1989, Gabriela furthered her education by earning an AAS, Associate of Applied Science, Degree in Mid Management from Bee County College-a testament to her determination and drive for personal growth. Her devotion extended beyond her professional life into her cherished role within her family. Gabriela is survived by her beloved husband Jose O. (Joe) Vasquez; her son, Jose Noe Vasquez; and her daughter, Cecilia Gabriela Lopez (Erasmo) of Diana, Texas. Sisters-in-law Martha (Candelario) Valdez, Odilia Esparza, and Delia Blackburn. Brothers-in-law Daryl Vasquez, Frankie Garcia, Noe Garcia, and Robert Garcia. She leaves behind 5 grandchildren and 15 great-grand children who were the pride and joy of her later years. Gabriela’s legacy also lived on through numerous nieces and nephews who will remember her warmth and generosity. She was predeceased by her parents, Franscisco (Chico) and Raquel Gonzalez; in-laws Martha Ojeda and Reymundo Garcia and a great-grandson, Amador De La Garza. Sister Consuelo (Jose M.) Buentello, and brothers, Rene (Lucilla) Gonzalez and Frank III (Estela) Gonzalez, and Brother-in-law Jacinto Garcia. Gabriela’s vibrant spirit shone brightly in every aspect of her life. She was known for being full of life-devoted and giving to all who knew her. Her beautiful smile and elegant charisma would light up any room she entered, leaving a lasting impression on friends and family. Outside of work and family commitments, Gabriela found joy in many pursuits. She played softball with enthusiasm and skill, enjoyed baking delicious treats, sewed and crocheted with creativity and care, and treasured every moment spent surrounded by family. A woman of deep faith, Gabriela was a devoted member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Alice, she actively participated in the Saint Joseph Altar Society as well as the Crusillistas-her faith community providing both strength and fellowship throughout the years. Gabriela’s life was a tapestry woven with love for family, dedication to service, unwavering faith, and a zest for living each day to its fullest. Her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. May Gabriela Vasquez’s legacy bring comfort to all whose lives she touched. A Rosary will be recited Friday, February 20, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Alice, Texas. Services will conclude following funeral mass.
