In Loving Memory of Darlene Marie Ranly With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Darlene Marie Ranly, who passed away peacefully at her home in Agua Dulce, Texas, on May 6, 2026, at the age of 80. Darlene was born on December 3, 1945, in Houma, Louisiana. As she began elementary school, Agua Dulce became her lifelong home, where she attended Agua Dulce ISD and proudly graduated with the Class of 1963. Later, she attended Del Mar College Nursing School and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse, dedicating herself to caring for others. Throughout her career, Darlene served as an LVN. She cared for clients at Mi Familia Day Care in Orange Grove, Texas and Alice, Texas before finding another calling as a Teacher's Aide in the Life Skills Unit at Agua Dulce ISD. She deeply cherished the students whose lives she touched, and her compassion for children was evident in everything she did. She believed every child deserved kindness, patience, and unconditional love. Darlene's generosity extended far beyond her work. Her home was always open to anyone who needed a safe place to stay, whether for a single night or an extended time. She never hesitated to offer comfort, a warm meal, or a listening ear. Her kindness left a lasting impression on countless lives. She found joy in creating with her hands. An accomplished seamstress, quilter, crocheter, and cook. Darlene had an extraordinary gift for making something beautiful out of almost nothing. Baby quilts and handmade clothing for little ones were among her favorite creations, each stitched with love and care. More than anything, Darlene treasured her family. She loved to laugh, share stories, and spend time visiting with friends and loved ones. Family gatherings brought her the greatest happiness, and the memories made around her table will be cherished forever. Darlene was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Barney (Oscar) and Myrtice Barnes, and her brother, Barney (Jerry) Barnes. She leaves behind a family who will forever carry her love in their hearts: her sister, Kathy Sellier; her daughters, Vanessa Arredondo (Ruben), Phyliss Sawyer, and Paula Sawyer; her cherished grandchildren, Xavier Arredondo and Israel Espinoza; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Those who knew Darlene will remember her as a loving, generous, and compassionate woman whose heart was always open to others. Her legacy is one of selfless service, unwavering love, and quiet strength. Although she will be deeply missed, the kindness she shared and the lives she touched will continue to live on through all who knew her. Private service will be held at a later date at Roselawn Cemetery in Alice, Texas.
