Carol B. Mayhall

Dateline: Orange Grove, Texas Carol Ann Blain Mayhall passed away in Mathis, Texas, January 22, 2025 following a long illness. She was born the 9th day of December, 1938 in Olney, Illinois, Richland County. The second child of Bill and Dollie Blain. Carol was an avid gardener and loved indoor plants. She could plant a tin can and it would grow! Carol dearly loved all kinds of animals and would frequently find herself explaining to Charles how “It just followed me home”. Never asking for permission and not really seeking forgiveness for another furry or feathered friend. She loved country music, Elvis and Richard Claderman. The latter of which she would blast from her stereo speakers while cleaning the house! Carol was strongly independent, never gave up, and always found a way to make it happen. She was funny, happy and always offered a helping hand even when life was not so easy on her. She was a leader in her community and enjoyed being a life member of the PTA. Carol was always involved in her children Valerie, Vickie and Trey’s activities. She made sure they were involved in Scouting and volunteering and attending church. She often hosted fun parties for the children's friends to attend such as sleep overs, roller skating, and seasonal themed. She bowled on the Alice Women's Bowling League where she held the offices of President, Secretary and Sargent at Arms. She was a founding member of the Radio Emergency Assistance League. She manned the radio control center and organized the community shelter through hurricanes Allen, Alicia and Gilbert. You could find her on her CB radio, channel 21, by the call sign “Little Bit”. She enjoyed many years working for AAA Answering Service. She enjoyed ladies bunco, Days of Our Lives soap opera, fires at Gail and Huey’s, camping, road trips and horseback riding and an occasional beer. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, William “Bill” and Dollie Blain of Woodsboro. Her Sister Rosetta and Brother in Law Bob Swartz of Premont. Her Brother Larry Blain of Lompoc, California. Her Husband Charles Perry and her daughter Valerie Lea Mayhall. She is survived by her daughter Vickie (Greg) Balderas of San Antonio. Her Son Charles Perry “Trey” (Nicole) Mayhall of Orange Grove, 5 grandchildren William “Will” and Brieana “Brie” Balderas, Ethan and Haylie Mayhall and Clayton Balderas and her brother Danny Blain of Woodsboro. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved. Funeral Services have been scheduled for Saturday, February 1st, 2025 1:00 pm at the Roberson Funeral Home in Alice, Texas. Internment at Premont Cemetery, Premont Texas
