II Corinthians 13:11-14 STATESBORO - TILLMAN, Reverend Burlester Lamar Tillman, Jr. began his earthly journey on November 25, 1944, in Appling County, Georgia. The Appling County native was the son of the late Burlester Lamar Tillman, Sr. and Elizabeth Tillman. He received his early childhood education in the public school system of Appling County, Georgia. He was a graduate of Fort Valley State University receiving a Degree in Nursing, After which he attended Candler School of Theology at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia. Burlester was a diligent employee where he worked for several years as a bus driver for the Appling County Public School System. He was one of the first Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) in Appling County. At any early age he joined Harper's Chapel, Baxley, Georgia where he served as church trustee, senior and junior choir organist and director, Sunday school officer and was a member of the United Methodist Men Ministry. Reverend Burlester Tillman, was a pastor of the United Methodist Church Waycross and Statesboro District, where he pastored numerous churches including Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Sylvania, Georgia. Burlester was not only a gifted piano player, but he could sing. He spent countless hours and days playing and singing at surrounding churches. Burlester was a member of the “True Spirit Gospel Singers.” and other local gospel groups. These gospel groups brought great joy and entertainment to many in the surrounding area. He was a member of the Masocnic Hall #10 and was a radio host at WSLT Radio Station, Statesboro, Georgia. On Monday, November, 19, 2012, Burlester Lamar Tillman, Jr. mercifully left this world of time to live forever in eternity. His sweet strong spirit will be missed by many. His passing reminds us that life is uncertain, but death is sure He was preceded in death by his parents. Because love is greater than death; his love will live in the hearts of his wife: Jacqueline Tillman of Baxley, Georgia; a daughter, Andrea KaTina Tillman of Waycross, Georgia; two sons, Allen (Devon) Tillman of Bluffton, South Carolina and Anthony (Amy) Tillman of Baxley, Georgia; and five grandchildren. He also leaves a multitude of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, countless friends and colleagues.. The Tillman family will receive friends on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Baxley Funeral Home, 477 Blackshear Highway, Baxley, Georgia. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Harper's Chapel, 217 East Allen Street, Baxley, Georgia where Dr. Nancy Tillman Franklin will serve as the celebrant. The committal service and final resting place will be in Old Fields Memorial Gardens.
