Dateline: Alice, Texas Roel “Grizzly” Gonzalez Sr., 65, entered eternal rest in the early morning hours on Tuesday, January 4th, 2022. Roel was born May 6th, 1956 in Alice, Tx. To Carlos B. Gonzalez and Frances Mckenzie. He worked for Dorsal Services Inc. as a heavy truck hauler for over 30 years. Roel will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Frances; step-son, Nefi Gonzalez; sister, Sandy Gomez; brothers, Carlos “Chale” Jr., Adan “Danny”, Lisandro “Lando”, Luis “Hoss”, along with few other dearly departed family members. Roel is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Hilda Y. Gonzalez of Alice Tx.; son, Roel “Grizzly” (Ashley) Gonzalez Jr. of Alice, Tx.; daughters, Debbie (Jaime) Arredondo of San Antonio, Tx. and Linda (Freddie) Farias of Alice, Tx.; sisters, Frances (Fernando) Cruz of Houston, Tx. and Eva Nash of Alice, Tx.; brothers, Ruben (Alma) Gonzalez of Alice, Tx. and Ovidio (Idolina) Gonzalez of Alice, Tx. Other survivors include 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held Monday, January 10, 2022 from 5 pm to 9 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 7 pm at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. A mass will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 10 am at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Services will end at the church. A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 1 pm in the New Collins Cemetery. Services entrusted to Roberson Funeral Home Alice.
