Robert Earl Coombes

November 5, 1936 - February 3, 2021

Dateline: Alice, Texas Robert Earl Coombes, 84, died February 3, 2021, in Corpus Christi, Tx. Mr. Coombes was born on November 5, 1936 in Sabinal, Tx. to the late Reverend Lawrence and Nola Coombes. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, D. Jamesine (Lindblom) Coombes. He has 3 sons, David, and his late wife Bertha; Jonathan, and his wife Julie; James and his wife Rita; 2 daughters, Laura and Cynthia Coombes; 8 grandchildren; and a nephew (like a son) Timothy Martens. He graduated high school in Houston, Tx. and earned a bachelor's degree from Texas A&I University. He worked as a journalist (many years with the Alice Echo-News) and an Educator. He served in the U.S. Army for many years and was awarded the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He loved his Lord and Savior, his country, and his family. He was a great father and husband. A graveside service will be conducted Friday, February 5, 2021 at 3 pm at the Clegg Cemetery. Arrangement entrusted to Roberson Funeral Home Alice.
