Genevieve Jean Normand

February 2, 1955 - January 26, 2020

Genevieve Jean Normand of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020, after a hard-fought battle with leukemia. She was born in Beeville, TX, as Genevieve Jean Korczynski on February 2, 1955. Though she loved to tell how she thought she was born on February 1 and her middle name was Jane until she saw her birth certificate at 18. She loved to dance, laugh, travel and meet new friends. As an Army wife and working mother, she took college courses as she could and earned a bachelor’s degree from FSU (Fayetteville State). It tickled her that they gave her a minority scholarship. She served the Armed Forces as a civilian for many years before serving at Social Security. She took early retirement so she could explore and live as she liked. One of her favorite adventures was a solo, one-month trip to India where she met many lovely people who took her in. This past December, she was able to fulfill her dream to live in a tiny house. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Cecilia Korczynski as well as her sisters Jearline Wostal and Katherine Webb. She is survived by her remaining siblings Joseph Korczynski, Sister Mary Ann Korczynski, John Korczynski, Steve Korczynski, and Patricia Dyess; her loving children, grandchildren, and many friends. A graveside memorial will be held at St. George’s Catholic Cemetery in George West on Saturday, February 15th at 2pm.
