Dateline: orange Grove, Texas Troy Johnson, 60 of Orange Grove, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5, 2026 in Alice, Texas with his beloved wife and sister at his side after an extended illness. Born on December 8, 1965 to Edmund and Barbara Johnson, Troy grew up in Andalusia, Illinois and was a proud graduate of Rockridge High School in Taylor Ridge, Illinois. In 1998 Troy married his devoted wife Teresa (Anderson) Johnson of Erie, Illinois. Together they shared almost 28 years filled with family, love and cherished memories. Family was central to Troy's life. Troy was defined by his generous spirit and his love for the simple things in life. An avid outdoorsman, Troy had a deep love for fishing and camping and could often be found enjoying the outdoors with family and friends. Troy was truly at peace in nature. But, fishing held a special place in his heart. He especially treasured time spent on the water with his dad Ed or his life-long best friends Dante and Javier Quintanilla. Troy also enjoyed playing computer golf with his life-long best friend Jim Hines (affectionately known as Tazz). Troy was a man with a heart of gold who was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need or would give the shirt off his back if you asked him for it. Troy was also known for his fierce loyalty to friends and family. He had a deep compassion for animals, especially the rescue dogs he volunteered to transport to their forever homes. Troy is survived by his wife, Teresa (Anderson) Johnson of Orange Grove, Texas. His parents, Edmund and Barbara Johnson of San Juan, Texas. His sister, Christina Martinson of San Juan, Texas. His legacy continues through the life of his children: His daughter, Trisha (Brandon) Quigley of Bellevue, Nebraska. Son, Andres Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Son, Eric Johnson of Clinton, Iowa. Troy was the proud grandfather to Noah Quigley of Bellevue, Nebraska, Akeira Johnson and Braylon Johnson of Moline, Illinois. He is also survived by his niece Marissa (Jerry) Callahan of Rock Fall, Illinois. Nephews, Jack Anderson of Austin, Texas. Rick Martinson and CJ Martinson of Moline, Illinois. He also leaves behind a special friend, his great-nephew Bailey Martinson who spent many summers with him in Texas. And many more Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews who will miss him dearly. Troy was preceded in death by his infant daughter Alyssa Johnson and his maternal and paternal grandparents. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Windsor Nursing and Altus Hospice of Alice, Texas for their compassionate care during his extended illness and his final days. Per Troy's request, there will not be any formal services. Roberson Funeral Home is providing cremation services and a private spreading of his ashes will be done at a later time.
