Santos G. Krapf

Santos "Sandy" Krapf, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born on August 17, 1945 in Alice, TX and passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024 in Alice, TX. Sandy left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Sandy was a true family woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life and the people she loved most. Sandy was a hairdresser and owner of the Beauty Factory. She had a passion for doing hair and commonly offered to do so even after her retirement. Sandy loved to dance. Anytime she heard Suavamente, it didn’t matter where she was, she would get up and dance. She enjoyed sharing her love for dance with her family and friends. Sandy was a dedicated lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. You always knew when she was watching a game because she would be hollering at the TV. After most games, she would eagerly call her granddaughter to chat about the team's performance, whether they won or lost. In her spare time, Sandy could often be found watching old western movies, something she and her late husband, Gene, shared. These films brought her comfort and connected her to the many happy memories of their time together. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Doyle Eugene "Gene" Krapf, her parents Antonio “Tony” and Emilia Moreno Gomez, and her brother, Manuel Antonio Gomez. Despite these losses, Sandy's heart remained full as she surrounded herself with her family, which was her greatest source of pride and joy. Sandy is survived by her daughters, Michelle Lynn De Hoyos (Mark) and Dawn Reneé Mangum (Mark), her adored grandchildren: Micayla Reneé Derrick (Dakota), Dr. Madison Nicole Martinez (Bernat), Ciara Lynn Cunningham (Jeff) and Hagen Austin Mangum. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Hazel Lynn, Ellison Nicole, Elias Mark and Cadence June, each of whom brought immense light into her life. She is also survived by her brothers, Ralph Gomez (Glenda) and Roel Rene “Roy” Gomez (Marta) and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Sandy's life will be held graveside on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 10AM in the San Diego Cemetery in San Diego, TX where family and friends are invited to share their memories and pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alice in Sandy's memory. The family would like to thank Sandy’s caregivers at Altus Hospice and The Premier of Alice for the amazing nurturing care they provided during her final days. May she rest in peace, forever watching over her beloved family and cheering on the Cowboys from above.
