Mildred Bomar

Dateline: Pearland, TX. Mildred Bomar, born March 1, 1930 passed away October 3, 2013 after a long illness in Pearland, Texas. Mildred was the daughter of George W. Smith and Bonnie M. Smith of Three Rivers, TX. Mildred graduated from Three Rivers High School, and was taught by her mother in law, Leila Bomar, who introduced her to her son Royse H. Bomar, who had returned from serving in the US Navy. Royse and Mildred married May 2, 1948 in her parents’ home in Three Rivers, Texas. Mildred and Royse adopted two children Mark Howard in February of 1956 and Laura Jane born in November of 1960. Royse worked for Humble Oil Company on the King Ranch in Kingsville, Texas. Royse was transferred to Corpus Christi and then to Houston in 1970, where he retired in the early 1980’s. Mildred was a stay at home mom and was a loving wife and mother, who did a fantastic job of taking care of her family. She and Royse went into the antique business after Royse retired from Exxon. They enjoyed traveling the east coast every year and also traveled overseas. Her son, Mark and his wife Amy of Three Rivers, Texas, survive Mildred. His children, daughter Lindsay Mansfield, her husband Justin, and their two daughters Avery, and Addalyn. Mark’s son Nicholas Bomar, and his fiancé Jill Upah live Sweeney, Texas, and will be married in November 2013. Nicholas served in the US Army where he was stationed in Killeen, Texas, and is a veteran of the Iraqi War. And Mark’s step-son ,Terry Fishbeck and his girlfriend Cameron Stroud of Houston, Texas. Mildred is also survived by her daughter Laura Vaughn, her husband Rev. C. McAllsiter “Mac” Vaughn of Cypress, Texas. Laura and Mac are serving Navasota Methodist Church and Anderson United Methodist Church. Mac and Laura have five children, three grandchildren with one grandchild due to arrive in February. The children are Kristen Giles, her husband James, and daughters Allyson Brooke, and Audrey Belle, they are now stationed in San Diego, California. First Class, James Giles is currently deployed serving our country in the U.S. Navy as a Fire Control man. Kennon Kruse, his wife Kelli of Cypress, Texas. Kennon served in the U.S. Navy for four years and is now employed with the Baytown Fire Department as a Fireman/E.M.T./Paramedic and Kelli teaches fifth grade for C.I.S.D. Kayla West, her husband Josh, and a daughter, Griffyn Elizabeth due to arrive in February 2014 who all are living in Denton, Texas. Kayla is in her second year of teaching High School English where she also teaches and coaches the Debate Team. Josh is an accomplished artist and teaches at the University of North Texas where he recently received his masters degree. Also Surviving Mildred are Laura’s step son Miles and his daughter Skyler Vaughn of Biddeford, Maine and step son Matthew Vaughn, also of Biddeford, Maine. Visitation will be Friday, October 11, 2013 from 5-8 PM at Roberson Funeral Home, Three Rivers, TX. Services will begin promptly at 11am Saturday October 12, 2013. Rev. Mac Vaughn of First United Methodist Church Navasota & Rev. Valli Blair of First United Methodist Church Three Rivers will be officiating.
