Katina Michelle Blackwell

Dateline: Alice, Texas Katina Michelle Blackwell, 47, went to be with the Lord October 15, 2020. She was born February 8, 1973 to Claude and Nanette Blackwell in Corpus Christi, Texas. Katina was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend and will be missed dearly! Katina was a 1991 Alice High School graduate. She worked for over 20 years for the Alice Independent School District in various positions. Katina never met a stranger. She was willing to help anyone at anytime. Katina loved with her whole heart and wore her heart on her sleeve. Katina would give the shirt off her back, even if it meant she did without. She knew how to raise people up and would light up a dark room with her presence and bright personality. And boy could she make people laugh! Although Katina wasn't blessed with children of her own, she was blessed as an aunt. She was the favorite aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. She spoiled them rotten from birth without permission and would ask for forgiveness later. Katina loved music, especially 80's music. She was an avid writer and a huge part of the LGBTQ community. She never had a problem voicing her opinion on basic human rights. Katina is preceded in death by her loving grandparents; Claude V. Blackwell Sr,. Wanda Culton Stark Blackwell, and Joseph N. Phlegar; and her brother, Claude "Trey" V. Blackwell III. She is survived by her loving parents, Claude and Nanette Blackwell of Alice, Texas. Her brothers in law and sisters; Russell and Kathy Green of Alice, Kara Blackwell of Alice, Karrie and Dan Parada of League City, Texas, and Kelli and Gabriel Salinas of Alice. Her nieces and nephews; Kenneth Green of Corpus Christi, Texas; Megan and Rodney Berryman of Manor, Texas; Bryant and Marina Reynolds of Alice, C.J. Reynolds of San Antonio, Texas; Russell and Jennifer Green of Corpus Christi, Texas; Tyler and Kirstin LaRocca of Baltimore, Maryland; Brandon and Alyssa Reynolds of Alice, Texas; and Miles James Salinas of Alice, Texas. Her great-nieces Odette and Fallon Green of Corpus Christi, Texas and Maya Mernaugh of Flour Bluff, Texas. Her great-nephew Rylee Green of Flour Bluff, Texas; and numerous friends she considered family. A memorial and celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2020, 10:30am at Morningside Drive Church of Christ. The family asks in lieu of flowers to please make donations to the American Heart Association, the National Kidney Foundation, or a charity of your choosing.
