Kathrine "Kat" Rene Armstrong

Dateline: George West, Tx. Kathrine "Kat" Rene Willeford Armstrong was born on February 17, 1929 in Pleasanton, Texas to Cynthia Bush and Neely Brown Willeford. She passed peacefully on July 17, 2016. Kathrine "Kat" was born into a large family, she was the 9th child of 13 - JC, Anna Dee, Lloyd, Jo, Royce, Clifford, Winnie, Ola Mae, Kathrine, Sarah, JoNell, Margory and Cleve. All of the brothers and sisters remained close throughout their lives, even as they moved as far away as Arkansas and California. On December 15, 1946 she married Paul Armstrong. They made their life in George West, Texas. Kathrine worked many years at Pawlik's Lumber Yard, not as a cashier, but out in the lumber yard. She was not afraid of hard work or tough projects, she tackled everything with determination. If someone said it couldn't be done, she would find a way to accomplish it just because she could. She was loved and respected by so many people in the George West Community and her tenacity will be truly missed. She and Paul were never blessed with their own children, but she was enveloped by hundreds of nieces and nephews. She knew each of her generations of nieces and nephews by name and from both the Willeford and the Armstrong families. She knew their family trees and was a whiz with birth dates, marriages, births and the inevitable deaths. She was an active part of all of their lives even if it was by only phone calls or cards. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul on May 6, 1974 and she never remarried. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Cynthia and Neely, as well as her brothers, JC, Lloyd, Clifford and Cleve and her sisters, Anna Dee, Jo, Winnie, Ola Mae and JoNell. She is survived by her brother, Royce (Kay) Willeford of Sherman Texas, and her sisters Sarah Willeford Armstrong of Whitehouse, Texas and Margory Willeford Johnson of Dallas, Texas, along with Paul's brother Sam (Erlene) Armstrong of Three Rivers, Texas, Doris Dickinson of Pleasanton, Texas, Nell Blaha of Tilden and too many nieces and nephews to name. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening at 5 PM at Roberson Funeral Home in Three Rivers and Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 10 AM at the Brush Country Cowboy Church with interment to follow at the Three Rivers Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Curbello, Phillip Armstrong, Josh Wadsworth, Richard Dockery, Steven Zamzow, Richard May and Leo Herrera. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Forehand, Danny James, Sam Armstrong, Don Forbes, Jimmy Pawlik and Stanley Willeford.
