Dateline: Alice, Texas With a sad heart, we announce the passing of our beloved Gloria E Martinez, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, cousin and friend too many. She is survived by her husband of many years: Lorenzo Martinez, her daughters: Monica Salinas (Leo Saenz, Jr) and Maricela Martinez, her son: Jamie Martinez, her sister: Mary V Hinojosa (Angie Martinez), grandchildren: Jeremy Salinas, Roman Felan, Juan Daniel and Xavier Cardenas and Gianna Garcia. Gloria is preceded in death by her parents: Encarnacion R Hinojosa Jr & Frances M Hinojosa. Her Maternal grandparents: Candelario Martinez & Maria R Martinez. Her parental grandparents: Encarnacion Hinojosa & Ysabel Hinojosa. Gloria was a hard-working wife, mother and nurse. After high school Gloria attended Delmar College in Corpus Christi Texas. She obtained her LVN degree and worked at P&S Hospital as a charge nurse on the Medical/Surgical Unit. She later worked with Texas Medical Foundation (TMF) reviewing patient records to make sure physicians were admitting patients to the hospital under state guidelines. Gloria wanted to advance her career goals so she returned to college and even after marriage she obtained her registered nurse degree. She worked as the Director of Nurses at Regional Home Health in Alice, Texas under the direction of Dr. Ruben Garcia and Frances Garcia. She worked very hard to make sure her clients obtained the best benefits possible and guided staff to give quality care to their clients. Gloria enjoyed family gatherings, attending church at Saint Joseph Catholic Church and Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Alice, Texas and visiting the Virgin de San Juan Shrine in the valley. She loved to travel the world and her travels included Hawaii, Spain, Gibraltar, Australia, Turkey, Greece, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Paris, Austria, Switzerland, and Mexico. But she especially loved her travels to the holy land in Jerusalem. Gloria was a hard working person. She provided for her family and always was willing to help in her community giving food and clothing whenever people were in need. She will truly be missed. We would like to thank Summit Hospice for the care they provided. Especially her Hospice Nurse, Connie. And with much gratitude, we would like to thank Elda Soto Ledezma, her caregiver of many years. She took wonderful care of our loved one. We will never forget her kindness and compassion. And finally we would like to thank Steve at Roberson’s FH for his support at this difficult time. May Gloria Rest in Peace in God’s hands and be with her family and friends in Heaven!! Visitation will begin on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 11AM until 2PM with a Rosary and Liturgy of the Word will be held at 2PM in the Roberson Funeral Home Chapel. Services will conclude at the funeral home. Services entrusted to Roberson Funeral Home Alice.
