Frances Aguirre

Dateline: Three Rivers, Texas Frances Ann Poissoit Aguirre, 85, of Waco, Tx. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22nd , 2026, with family by her side at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, Tx. Frances was born on September 1, 1940, in Chillicothe, Tx. Her adolescent years were spent in the small town of Conroe, Tx. with her mom and dad, Lois and Newman Poissoit and 2 brothers, Bobbie Joe and Jimmie Poissoit. Many days were spent learning how to sew with her mother, playing with her closest cousin, Mary McCoy, and growing up with her brothers. Early adult life brought about marriage and the birth of her son, Rick Muirhead, as well as the adoption of her second son, James Walker. Motherhood suited her well and as life twisted and turned, it led her to her husband Antero Aguirre where she gained 5 daughters, Amparo, Elena, Eufemia, Olga, Gloria, and Lupe and 5 sons Antero Jr., Luis, Juan and Adelmiro, and Juan DeLeon. Then, not much later, came her final daughter, Angela Aguirre. Frances’s adult years were spent being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother to her ever-expanding family in addition to time spent as a seamstress where she performed alterations for 90% of the Austin based Jack Brown Cleaners. As if that was not enough, she also extended her coverage to the Lockhart, Tx. area where Antero and she lived for many years. As life often does, more twists and turns led her back to Conroe, where she worked the evening shift for several years at Capro Inc. assembling mechanical control cables for the automotive industry and worked by day side by side at her mother’s small sewing business, Lois Poissoit Sewing, while she recovered from breast cancer. Being a survivor of Breast Cancer, she was a very big advocate for women staying on top of that. So, if you’re reading this, listen to her message! Go get checked. More twists and turns led her back to Antero Aguirre where they remarried and lived out their golden years together outside of Lockhart, Tx. until his passing in 2018 upon which Frances moved to Waco, Tx. to be closer to family. Along the way, she forged life-long friendships who were more like an extension of the family. Thank you, Mary Manseill, Helen Ervin, Freddie Holmes and Naomi Ferguson for your friendship over the years. Please know that each of you were a pivotal support system through every phase of life. Frances was most known for her warm hugs, spiritual devotion, love of dancing, her laughter, and kind heart. She also loved reading her Harlequin Romance books, her red lipstick, Red Door perfume and an occasional Pina Colada. Frances was preceded in death by her husband Antero M. Aguirre, her sons, Antero G. Aguirre Jr. and James Shannon Walker, her daughters Olga Green, Gloria Dauzat and Lupe Dryden, her grandson Simon Aguirre, great grandson, Matthew Aguirre, and great-great grandson, Isaiah Cadriel, her mom and dad, Lois and Newman Poissoit, her brother Jimmie Poissoit, her niece Diana Poissoit and her nephew Scott Poissoit. Frances is lovingly survived by her brother Bobbie Joe Poissoit and family, her cousin Mary McCoy and family, her children, Rick (Lori) Muirhead, Angela (Danielle) Aguirre, Amparo (Rusty) Wooley, Luis (Virginia) Aguirre, Elena Neal, Juan (Rosemary) Aguirre, Adelmiro Aguirre, and Eufemia Kinney and a beautiful group of grandbabies (46), great grandbabies (125), great-great grandbabies (132) and great-great-great grandbabies (4) who will continue to give her “happy noise” even in heaven. Calling hours will be held from 2-6pm on July 29th and the funeral will occur the following day on July 30th at Roberson’s Funeral Home located at 212 W Thorton St., Three Rivers, Tx. 78071 followed by a family luncheon at Caleb Garcia Staghorn at 1019 N Harborth Ave, Three Rivers, Tx. 78071.
