Beki Jo Wilson

Dateline: Three Rivers, Texas Beki Jo Wilson, born September 13, 1962, earned her wings Friday, January 7, 2022 as she was received into her Father’s loving kingdom. Surrounded by her family, Beki peacefully received her invitation to Glory as her exhausted body failed an inexhaustible spirit. How does one write a love letter to a wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, friend when she was the one who would always tell you what to write? There are people who go through life and there are people who really live it. Beki Jo had an absolutely infectious love of life that those around her could not help but contract and which made us all appreciate our respective journeys all the more. More than likely it was because she demanded that of us all, for if you knew her, you know there probably isn’t an adjective that adequately describes her will. Stubborn, tenacious, and obstinate are probably the more flattering terms one might use, although images of mules also come to mind. Whatever the term, you were certain to know Beki’s opinion, usually as you were somehow left wondering why you may have dared to have a differing one (which was obviously somehow a “wrong” opinion). When it came to her family, there was no more fierce nor vocal advocate. While God’s love for his children may be unrivaled, Beki certainly gives Him a run for His money; in fact, I’m sure it would be safe to say that she’s letting Him know as much now. When one became part of Beki’s family, and her family extends much deeper and broader than genetics, that membership came with her unceasing and unrelenting love. And if you’re in her family, she’d shove that love down your throat, with or without your consent. The reach of that investment in each of us will nourish and spread through people for years and generations to come and that is truly her undying gift to us. To say that Beki will be missed is a gross understatement for those of us left without our dear sister. But that is thankfully and wonderfully myopic, because she is genuinely all around us – watch Kelly turn to the Lord in prayer; observe Kati Jo analyze an issue; listen to Maggi correct your opinion on the same issue; observe her many extended family members turn to one another with smiles on their faces as we remember and commemorate her. These are echoes of Beki and allow us the opportunity to celebrate her life. And on the subject of celebrations – Beki would be the first person to remind us all that this is indeed a time to celebrate; a chance to celebrate her wonderful life, her ability to nurture others fighting similar battles and her well-earned reward in Heaven. Beki was preceded in death by her father Leland Bell, paternal grandparents Laura and Clifton Elliott, and maternal grandparents Jo and Oscar Stridde. Beki is survived by her husband, partner and best friend of 38 years Kelly Wilson and her daughters Kati Jo and Maggi, all of Montgomery, Texas; her mother, Carolyn Ledwig of Millett, Texas; and brother Josh Wadsworth and wife Shanna of Falls City, Texas. Visitation will be Friday, January 14 at Roberson Funeral Home from 5-7 pm. Funeral celebration will be held at Brush Country Cowboy Church in George West, Texas beginning at 1 pm with graveside to follow at the Ray Point Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jason Cotten, Will Wadsworth, Josh Wadsworth, Dean Zamzow, Steve Zamzow and Richard Dockery. Honorary pallbearers include Brian Moore, Mike Drieu, Tim Archer, Alex Grace and Derek Dreyfuss. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ray Point Cemetery Association at PO Box 1554, Three Rivers, Texas 78071.
